Anderson, age 84, of Wisconsin Dells, died on Sunday, Jan. 4, 2004, at his home surrounded by his family. Francis William Anderson was born on Feb. 27, 1919, in Daggett, Mich., to Andrew and Frances (Hoffman) Anderson. He was united in marriage with Florence Paine on Jan. 28, 1939, in Lansing, Mich. He graduated from Michigan State University in 1942. He served as a first lieutenant in World War II. His service included, ROTC - Michigan State, East Lansing; 14th Horse Calvary Regiment, Tucson, Ariz.; 9th Armored Division, Fort Riley, Kan.; 711 Tank Battalion, Mohave Desert, Ariz.; and 375th Bomb Squadron, out of Corsica and Fano, Italy. He enjoyed golfing, bridge, and bowling and was an enthusiastic Cubs and Packers fan. He will be remembered as a man of great integrity and humor. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Florence Anderson of Wisconsin Dells; five children; 20 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Larry (Kay) of Marquette, Mich.; a sister, Mitzi (Al) Bovin of Menominee, Mich.; a daughter-in-law; and other relatives and friends. Mr. Anderson was preceded in death by his parents; and two sons, Michael and Tom "Bomber" Anderson. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2004 at 11 a.m. from ST. CECILIA CATHOLIC CHURCH in Wisconsin Dells. Father Arnold Reuter will preside with burial to follow at CALVARY CEMETERY in Wisconsin Dells. |
